Under normal circumstances I would never give anyone/company a perfect score as there is always room for improvement… in this case I had to. I have a 100 year home with a tricky attic (basically three distict sections). Unfortunately there is only a single access hatch cut in the middle section making the front and back 1/3 of the attic inaccessible. During the preliminary assessment we all conceded that the only option would be to cut a second access hatch in the front 1/3 of the attic so we could at minimum re-insulate over our childrens’ rooms (best value approach). I was so pleasantly surprised by the ultimate outcome. shortly after arriving on site the crew thought they would first try to make their way to the front of the attic from the existing hatch before they conceded to cutting a new hole in my ceiling. unbeleivably and likely the result of some serious acrobatics one of the guys was able to traverse the attic and promptly reinsulate the front 1/3 of my attic without cutting a new hole. This little bit of extra effort saved me a great deal of time and money, as I no longer had to tackle a patch repair, and painting project that would have likely taken my 2 days. Sales and customer service is all about managing expectations. My expectations for this project were greatly exceeded and for that I thank you and would recommend you to anyone.

I used Envirotech to top up the insulation in my attic, based on other reviews here on Homestars. They gave me a quote which was honoured, they arrived on time and completed the job in a timely mannter. They also made sure to vacuum and clean up after themselves which was appreciated. I would not hesitate to recommend Envirotech.

We called Mark after talking to a few companies about insulating our almost 100 year old home. Mark came promptly and provided us with a few options for our insulation needs, and recommended ones that were the most effective, but also cost efficient for us. Mark’s team were wonderful, profressional and friendly and got the job done on a timely basis. We are so happy with their work and recommend them to anyone.

Mark and his crew are very professional and know what they are doing. They are clean, efficient and take pride in their work. Mark has come back to my place several times to address any questions related to the work they did or anything related to Insulation. I am a new homeowner living in a 60 year old house so I had a lot of questions regarding insulation. If you like great customer service and honest work you will love these guys.

We have a 1950s bungalow in Oshawa with balloon framing (no insulation or firebreaks). I did a bit research before we decided on Envirotechinsulation. I found that two options existed to retrofit our home. 1. Remove entire lathe and plaster, insulate and then drywall. A dirty, expensive and time consuming process. 2. Drill and fill. Have professionals drill holes in the plaster or exterior and fill with insulation. a. Cellulose was an option, but it does layer out over time and requires a vapour barrier. Impossible to provide a barrier and if it gets wet it will layer even more. b. Expandable foam. Don’t let anyone talk you into this! The foam will expand and crack the lathe and plaster or drywall. c. airKrete. This product is ideal since it does not expand so it won’t cause any cracking of drywall. It flows around obstacles when installed which cellulose won’t. We decided to go with airKrete (a bit more expensive). Mark’s crew of Stu, Charlie and Ed did a great job. They installed dropped sheets on the floor and furniture. They drilled holes from inside with a drill that had a vacuum attached to it. Very little dust and they cleaned up everything. We also had the crew bring our attic up to R50. My only regret is not getting this job done earlier when the federal energy grant existed (only received Ontario grant). I would definitely recommend envirotechinsulation. I plan on having them back to insulate our entire basement once the grants return in the next year or so.

Old Victorian Red Brick – with no insulation In owning a 2.5 redbrick Victorian home over a century old, with no insulation at all – you can imagine my heating bills! This team showed up on time, drilled hundreds of holes into my lath and plaster walls and injected AirKrete into the outside walls. They brought diamond drills that did not send spider cracks throughout the walls, they do know what they are doing. I was curious of what was happening as all that foam was going into my walls, the team took the time to explain what was happening at every stage. It took 2 days from start to finish , they did the headers of my basement, and I know the foam got into every nook and cranny! How do I know?
My installation was in April of 2010, its now December and my house is toasty warm, no drafts, no flickering candles, just toasty warm.
We had to reset our thermostat – lower this year as the house is keeping the heat in and the costs down.
This company delivered in budget and on time. Thanks

Exterior Wall Insulation – AirKrete We moved into this 40-year old home last November. This home is heated ...

Exterior Wall Insulation – AirKrete We moved into this 40-year old home last November. This home is heated by electric baseboards and we have twenty of them. Our heating bill was so expensive that we needed to do something to bring it down. After having investigated different options, we have decided that retrofitting with forced air central heating is not a desirable option (as our basement has been fully finished and we don’t have the ductwork) nor insulating the perimeter walls from inside of the house (as we cannot accept the mess and fix-up we have to do after drilling hundreds of holes in our drywalls). In fact, we have also called an insulation contractor who uses expansion foam that will require us to take down all the drywalls! So that left us with two options: AirKrete (it doesn’t expand) from the outside, or do nothing. We called Mark Connor of Envirotech Insulation. Mark is courteous and professional. He tried his best to answer all my questions and concerns and gave us a very reasonable price. He investigated that our house has thin batts of fiberglass insulation (R8) typical of that time inside our perimeter walls. He would inject AirKrete from the outside (by drilling holes between the mortar joints) of the house. On the day of the installation, his crew of three (not himself) arrived at 7:30am. They were polite and appeared to know their work (hey, what else can I rely on other than those little body languages?), they gained my trust right away. The drilling started at eight and it was so noisy that I decided to leave the house with them and I went out for a long breakfast. They had to skip a few areas that cannot not be reached or insulated (the wall cavity inside our garage is too thin) and at the end, Mark deducted those areas from the invoice accordingly. (I think that this really shows that Mark is honest and professional.) They left our house at 3pm with reasonable cleanup. The holes in the mortar joints (may be 200 of them) were covered with small pieces of foam (the similar type that insulates your water pipes coming out of your water heater) and then covered with color-matched mortar. The smoothing (with finger) of the mortar is not as pretty as I wish but it is acceptable. All of my other concerns have not happened: 1) the drilling has not drilled through any water pipes, electric wire, gas lines or interior wall, 2) the drilling has not damaged the structure of the exterior wall (it is all brick) as it appears. This is very important. It is August so I cannot determine the saving in our heating bills in the winter yet. The house does seem to be cooler (we don’t have air-conditioning!) and a little quieter than before (it was already quiet before we put in AirKrete, this house was well-constructed). Next May I will write again to report on our heating bills. For now, I want to thank Mark, Ed, Stu and Charlie for doing a terrific job. Good people are hard to come by these days, I highly recommend Mark and his company. Thank you!

“Thank you Mark. Both Ed and Paul were good guys to deal with, both introduced themselves and were friendly and polite…even arrived about 15 minutes early (or drove past the driveway 15 mins. early as the GPS systems a bit screwed up in this area!?) They cleaned up all the work site, turn off and rolled up water hose, etc. It has been a pleasure dealing with Envirotech Insulation and will recommend you at any opportunity!”
